Straight Outta Compton was finally released on August 14, 2015. Overall, it is a great movie and highly recommended, but it is almost hard to understand how some important things were left out.
Dee Barnes Being Attacked by Dr Dre
Anyone that knows about 90’s Hip Hop will remember when when Dr Dre brutally attacked Fox TV host Dee Barnes. The movie leaves this out completely. Brings new meaning to Beats By Dre?
Ongoing Beef between Dre and Eazy E
Way after N.W.A. was done and over with, the world got to hear songs like “Dre Day” and “Real Muthaphuckkin G’s” in which both Dre and Eazy used to beef at each other. This beef was SO intense that Meek and Drake should take notes. It should of been highlighted way more in the movie the movie.
No mention of successful artists like “JJ Fad”, “Tha Dogg Pound”, “Nate Dogg”, “The Arabian Prince” or even “DJ Quik”. They also forgot about “World Class Wreckin’ Cru” and they barely featured “The D.O.C”.
Straight Outta Compton seemed more focused on Eazy-E than anyone else.
After NWA broke up, the movies fails to mention that MC Ren had a decent solo career (albums like “Shock Of The Hour”) and even facts like that DJ Yella moved on to do porn movies.
Dr Dre’s Ex Left Out
Dr Dre had a long and rocky relationship with “Michel’le” who had huge hits like “No More Lies”, “Nicety” and “Something In My Heart”.
Bone Thugs N’ Harmony Downplayed
Commercially, Bone had WAY better success than N.W.A! Sure they do mention them, but they left out the heavy involvement that Eazy-E and Jerry Heller had with the success of the group.
The movie definitely had plenty of time to include some of these facts.
